Baseball’s History

Baseball is a sport that requires strategy, speed and endurance. You need to know how or where to hit the ball to run as far as possible. Also you can’t just be jogging like jolly jerry around the block, you have to be at certain places at certain times or you will loose. If you’re thinking in your mind “this girl seems like she knows her stuff about this sport,“ then your mind is correct.

Baseball originates from America and is most famous and more often played in the US. It started in 1836 at Boston by several men playing first with metal rods and rubber balls. The actually name of the men who invented this game is unknown for many claimed they created this game but they was no evidence.

The game is played in 9 innings. While one team is out on the field the other team goes out to bat. The pitcher is in the center of the diamond called the mound. The pitcher will throw the ball to home and the batter has to hit it as far as possible or anywhere necessary, to run as far as possible. If there is a runner on each base and the batter hit’s a home run - into the crowd or out of the park - its called a “grand slam.” At the end of the 9 Innings who’s ever team has more runs (points) wins.

Some rules to the games are if you only want to run to first base you can just run through the base and your safe. But only on 1st and Home. If a Pop fly is hit or any ball that hasn’t touched the ground, is caught before the ground that player is automatically out. If the ball is being tossed between two bases and the runner in between its called a “pickle,” witch is very annoying to occur. There are many different slang’s and things that can happen in this game but it would be like writing a book for me to name them all.

My opinion of this game is its very fun to play, but unless you know someone in the game personally, its not too thrilling to watch. Apparently, because of the rates in America of professional baseball, other fans think opposite. Baseball is adored all over the country and I enjoyed learning some new things about it.

Mandela

My Mandela

A Mandela is a circular picture that explains the importance and uniqueness of someone’s life. With pictures you can explain what is important to you, events that have happened in your life, and beliefs or religions. I put allot of thought into mine before drawing anything.

First, starting at the top right, you see an eye crying into a river that leads off to a sunset. This shows the saying “cry me a river.” I am a very emotional person. I cry easily when upset or laughing. So an eye crying out a river screams out my name.

Next, as you go down to the very right, is an orange monster creature named Muno. This creature appears on the show “Yo Gabba Gabba!” on Nick Jr.. Me and my little brother Trey watch this show together while we dance and sing along. This shows that I’m good with kids and that I’m very immature.

Next, as you go down to the bottom right, is a picture of two mermaids. One of the things I enjoy to write and read about are mermaids. I love the movie “The Little Mermaid” along with the sequel and prequel. I collect their merchandise, so you could say that they’re very important to me since I was 4.

Next, to the bottom left, is a bouquet of flowers. One is very colorful, large, and noticeable, while the others are small and pale. The large, colorful flower represents me because of my colorful wardrobe, and noticeable loudness. I chose this because out of a crowd many people notice me because I laugh loudly and speak loudly.

Next in the upper left corner is three crosses resembling my religion. My religion is Prodestant Christian. This is important to me because Jesus died on the cross for us and saved us from our sins.

Last, you’ll find a circle in the center with musical notes flowing through a heart creating a heart rate trace, showing I couldn’t live without music. Yes that is exaggerated a bit but I would defiantly not be the same person I am today without music.

Through out this whole experience, what about myself I learned is that I can be very creative, and that I can be a lot more diligent then I give myself credit for. as you can see, I’m a very dramatic, immature, interesting person. I tried my hardest to let that show in my Mandela; and I hope that’s noticeable to you!

Miranda The Great is a book about a cat named Miranda and her daughter Punka who have to go on an adventure to find their masters. While the barbarians were burning down the city, Miranda and Punka went into hiding to stay safe, so the owners where forced to leave without the cats, to get away from the danger. So on the way of seaching for the owners by the Colosiam they rescue about 30 sick and injured cats by feeding them milk, miranda has another litter of kittens, and they set free a lion who repays them with her milk. In the end they find their owners and the owners could not keep all of the 30 cats so Miranda gives them one of her kittens that resembles her and stays to live with all the other cats.

I enjoyed this book because its a childrens book and i have always enjoyed any kind of kids book, because i have somewhat of a juvinel mind. The chapters (and book) are very short and about 8-15 pages long. I also loved how it was about cats. I love animals and one of my favorite pets is a cat. When they first introduced Punka and described her i wanted to name my kitty's Punka, because she sounds so cute!

One thing i did not enjoy about this book was the ending. This book had just enough detail throughout almost the whole thing. LIke when the lion traded her milk for freedom it was just enough to where i had enough time to enjoy what was going on. But at the end i felt as thought the author became lazy. It all ended so quickly and effortless, and the ending felt endless. The thing that was supposed to wrap it all up was she ended up living with all the 30 cats she saved. In my head i'm thinking "ok, so what happens after that?' But instead i get to read "The End."

After really thinking about it i dont think i really enjoyed this book too much. Though the kitty's where adorable, and the story line was interesting, the ending messed up the whole thing. If she could of given more detail and not be lazy at the end i would have recomended it to anyone.

Once upon a time, there was a young maid named Merissa, whos skin was as soft as a peach, and her eyes where as blue as the sky. She worked for the king in his palace. Across from his palace was a large mysterious forest, in witch everyone was too afraid to go into, because the witch lived in a cottage among the forest. One day on Merissa’s break she decided to go explore the forest, for she had never even step foot in there. Excitingly skipping around, smelling the crisp fresh air, she stopped while something caught her eye. It was a large box, with petrified wood. Atop of the box layed a golden lock on top. She looked through her ring of keys and noticed the large golden key she’d never used before. She jammed the key into the lock thinking it wouldn’t work, but to her amazement it unlocked.

She slowly opened the crate and a large creek hurt her ears. When she looked down the box she noticed a large circle of stones, with a hallow center. With all of her might she lifted the box up and pushed it to the side. It was a well. She poped her head into the well and it was the darkest thing she’d ever seen.

While stroking her long blond locks, for fun she started singing beautiful songs ; the echoing of her voice amused her. After a few minutes of her lovely melody she heard a voice echoing back to her, "That was very lovely!" Confused she whispered back, "Who’s that, where are you?" Giggling slightly the voice replied "I’m a Dolphin and my name is Marvin, I live in this well. I really love hearing you sing. But I cannot see much down here because there is not light. Could you do my a favor and get me a candle?" slightly scared and confused Merissa accepted his task and snuck back into the palace with a lit candle. Once she found the well again she set the candle into the bucket and wheeled it down to him. He was very delighted to see in his well again. Merissa could barely see Marvin for he was still very deep into the ground. Merissa noticed her time was up and she had to go back to work. She promised the fish she would keep it locked for safety and come back the next day.
After that night, once Merissa had a break she swiftly ran through the forest and found the box again. She lifted it up and talked once more with Marvin. Weeks went by and everyday Merissa came by to visit her friend Marvin. He told her about the under ground city of sea critters and how every well was somebody’s home. But the witch locked up some of the well’s so they all had no light. This was his home, and it was the first time in many years to have light in his home.

The next day, Merissa came by and sat on the ledge, while telling stories and giggling. The witch walked past Merissa and noticed the box unlocked. Her face became red with fury and her fists were tight and clammy. She walked up behind Merissa and gave a large grunt. "Hmmpf!" Oblivious to the witch Merissa kept laughing. The witch’s face became purple and gave a louder grunt. "HMMPF!" But Merissa still had no idea she was behind her. About to burst in anger the witch laid her hands on Merissa’s back and shoved her down the well. She then quickly and quietly snapped the lock on the box and closed up the well. Merissa screeched while falling down the well. The stones scraped her fingers and toes on the stones, but barely noticed. Marlin jumped up from the water and caught her on his back and swam her over to the dry spot in his well next to his candle. Not aware of what had just happened, she looked up to find a closed well with no way out.

She became so sad and afraid she sharted weeping. She cried so long and hard that even her small dry area to lsep in was full of water. After crying for three days she fell into a deep deep sleep. Two weeks went by and she streched out her arms and bellowed out a loud yawn. She rubbed her eyes and looked around remembering what had happened. Gripping her hands on her legs she noticed they were so wrinkly from the water taht they resembled fish like scales. She bacame frightened and thought of ways to take that away from her mind.

Just then her stoumach gave a large grumble, she felt very hungry. So in her deepest, loudest voice she hollered for Marvin to come help her for she became very hungry. Marvin popped out of the water relieved she was awake. When she complaned about her hunger he warned her that his food isn't made for humans and could change how her body prosscessed. But she had no choice for she was starving. He took all the food in his little storage box. There were so many slimey and slippery foods that she did'nt know where to start. Usually this would look discusting to her but everything to her amazment was very apitizing. After gobbling up the slimey surpirse dish she felt better. All the sudden she felt a sharp pain in her esophagus and chest. She quickly cupped her hands into the water and gulped in some water. But it didn't feel the same, it felt as though she was swallwing air. SHe kept swallwing in then took a big breath in and felt fine... SHe could breath under water and air! This excited her yet at the same time frightened her.

Before she could even ask what was going on she became light headed and fell asleep once more. This time she was asleep for 3 days. When she woke up she let out a high screech! "MARVIN!!! COME HELP ME!" Marvin swam over as fast as he could and found Merissa lying there with a large scaley tail in place of her legs, and fins in place of her feet! He was so startled and befuddled he didn't know what to say. BUt after a couple minutes of just staring at her tail, Merissa started laughing histaricly.

Never had she thought she would become so joyful and greatful of this new tail, but then realized it's because now she was not trapped inside of this well. SHe could live a new life under water. Because of her new tail she thought of herself as a new creature and wanted to name it somthing. Because she was a maid and her name was Merissa she named her species "mermaid."

weeks passed and she learned the new life of under water living. They even found a wat out of the under ground tunnels and into the ocean. They built a city and named it Atlantica. She made lots of new friends and fell in love with Marvin. Three months later Marvin and Merissa got married. They later had twins; a boy named Max, and a girl named Athena. And they all lived happiley ever after.
